Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris born October 20th 1964) is an American politician and lawyer who is currently the 49th vice-president of the United States. She is both the first female vice-president and the highest-ranking female official of the United States. She is a member and former US senator representing California. Harris was born in Oakland, California. She graduated from Howard University as well as the University of California Hastings College of the Law. After starting her career as an Alameda County District Attorney Harris was hired to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Then she was appointed the City Attorney of San Francisco. In 2003 she was elected San Francisco's district attorney. She was elected Attorney general of California in the year 2010. In 2014, she won re-election. Harris was the junior member of the United States Senate from California from 2017 to 2021. Harris beat Loretta Santiago in the 2016 Senate election and became the second African American woman to serve in Congress and the first South Asian American American to be elected to the United States Senate. Harris was a senator and advocated for healthcare reform as well as federal cannabis de-scheduling the possibility of citizenship for undocumented immigrant immigrants, the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons, and progressive tax reform. The sharp questions she asked Trump officials during Senate hearings earned her national attention, including the second Supreme Court nominee, Brett Kavanaugh who was indicted with sexual assault.
